The number of technology professionals supporting President Barack Obama has dropped substantially, according to a new Dice survey where more than 2,000 technology professionals weighed in on the upcoming election.
While a plurality (45%) of technology professionals chose Mr. Obama as the candidate who will pay the most attention to their needs, this result is down from 63 percent when Dice asked a similar group of IT pros the same question four years ago when Mr. Obama was facing Senator McCain.
Governor Mitt Romney garnered support from 37 percent of technology professionals, which is 10 percentage points higher than Mr. McCain’s level (27%) in 2008.
As a group, technology professionals still believe Mr. Obama is the candidate of choice. With different challengers, the gap has shrunk over the past four years.
